Elisha Miranda

As an acclaimed filmmaker,  writer, and educator, Elisha Miranda has powered through mainstream media barriers and stereotypes to explore answers to these questions, and to inspire the newest generation of artists to become no less than architects of authenticity through fearless imagination.

Miranda is a graduate of UC Berkeley, Columbia University, and MIT, a recipient of dozens of awards and a celebrated educator. But her crowning achievement? Choosing every day to teach and create from a place of audacious authenticity and social activism.

FILMMAKER

As managing partner, director, writer and producer at Chica Sol Films, LLC. , Elisha Miranda has several highly anticipated film, television and web projects in the works. Currently developing projects that include the screenplay adaptation of the Obie-winning play La Gringa and the sci-fi feature Betty’s Garage, the coming of age feature Outside the Wall and Stainless, a feature thriller.  In pre-production is an original Sci-Fi web series called The Go Girl Chronicles, about a young Latina gamer with the power to pave her own future through her drawings. Currently being optioned to Multi-Verse Media is Sangria Street, an original television series co-created by Miranda.

Throughout her career, Miranda has written, directed, produced and edited more than 40 commercials, short films, documentaries, television and music videos, earning her honors from the Sundance Film Institute, Tribeca Film Festival, a Student Academy Awards Internship, Nickelodeon and Angelus Filmmaker Award.

Sangria Street: The Latina Sex in the City you’ve been waiting for… coming soon to a savvy TV network.  

Bully:  A feature length thriller that pierces into the psyche of a bullied teenager who forms an alter ego.

The Go Girl Chronicles: A webseries about a young girl with Cartographic powers. Everything she draws comes true.

Betty’s Garage: a futuristic world war where women are sold as commodities and everyone's freedom comes at a price. Based on the one act play written by Carmen Rivera.  Role: Director and Co-Writer.

La Gringa: A young Puerto Rican girl returns to her homeland and undergoes a magical baptism. Based upon the Obie Winning Play written by Carmen Rivera. Role: Director and Co-Writer.

Outside the Wall: A feature length coming-of-age story of a queer Latina obsessed with Frida Kahlo as she struggles to survive in college.
